2012 PWID Information

Brothers,
There are some significant changes for this year’s PWID drive.

  1. Basha’s is not granting us permission to solicit at their stores this year. We will not have a permission letter from them.
  2. Fry’s is handling our drive very differently than in the past. They will grant the Knights exclusive access on October 5, 6, and 7 ONLY. Fry’s will grant us permission but the corporate office is not providing us a letter which we can take to the stores.  Fry’s corporate office will notify the individual stores about a month in advance. You will not be able to schedule a Fry’s store until early September. This is Fry’s policy, not ours. We cannot do anything about it. For now, councils desiring to solicit at Fry’s stores should submit a scheduling request to me identifying your council, the store number and location. I will try to match councils with stores. If two or more councils want to “share” a store, let me know how you want to set this up.  The point is to make it easier for councils to arrange their drives with individual stores later and avoid squabbles over who stores.
  3. As in the past, Safeway requires all store scheduling to go through the corporate office. The corporate office reserves October for Breast Cancer Awareness and does not permit other soliciting.
  4. Wal-Mart stores can be secured by your council at the individual stores and the store manager.

In the next few days, I will post the following on the state web site:

2012 PWID Guide
2012 PWID Code of Conduct Guide
2012 PWID Grant Request Form

2012 PWID Expense and Check Request Form
2012 Safeway Fund Raising Guidelines

As soon as they are available, I will also post the 2012-13 Insurance certificates.  These will show Safeway and Wal-Mart as additional named insured’s, as they require.

Vivat Jesus!
